Welcome

Welcome to Urbs Aeterna!

52 BC: Caius Iulius Caesar, the first Roman Emperor, was conquering Gaul. The Gaul barbarians had nothing against the disciplined, well trained and well equipped legionaries of the Roman empire. Alesia was the last town to be conquered before Caesar's victory was complete.
The siege begins and it seemed the Romans won't have any problems with the last of the barbarians, but the Gauls had only one chance left: A Gaul, 50,000 men strong army that retreated from Lutetia after its siege was on the way to Alesia! In the deep forests of Gallia the Roman scouts were not able to see the full size of the Gauls' army and Caesar was told the wrong number: 10,000. He sent one third of his legions to fight against the Gauls, a mere 20,000 men. They stood no chance against the berserks and were utterly decimated. When the Roman commanders noticed the danger, it was too late. At the same time, the Gaul garrison from Alesia, under the leadership of Vercingetorix, together with the army from Lutetia commenced their assault. The Romans were soon surrounded on all sides and were slaughtered by the Barbarians. Gallia was free again! The remaining Roman legionaries, only 5,000 men, retreated to Italy. Caesar was heavily wounded in the battle, but he survives, although he was severely disabled.
Now there existed an area between Gallia and Italy that belonged to no one. A pretty no man's land that attracted both Rome and Gallia, but they are not the only ones... The migrating Germans from the north-east and the Spainiards from south-west were also interested. Which side will you be on? Will you support the all-mighty empire and the emperor Caius Julius Caesar? Or will you become a dirty berserk that slaughters Romans with his rusty great axe? Or do you think the brave Spaniards, a nation with long traditions and quick, artful desert warriors deserve your help? You could also profit by the events of the upcoming conflict and make you own path as a mercenary and work for the highest payer. Become a mighty politician or a brave warrior, in URBS AETERNA!
